The blue hour is a short period of twilight that occurs right after sunset. During blue hour, the sun is below the horizon and the oranges, pinks, and other warm tones are faint or gone. However, the sky is not yet dark. During this roughly 30 minute time frame, the remaining light in the skies are a mostly blue shade.
For wedding photographers with a mastery of concepts like creative white balance and off camera flash, this time frame presents a wonderful opportunity for some incredible, memorable photos. Below are some examples of blue hour photography from our team of photographers here at Lin and Jirsa. If you want to make these types of photos a part of your wedding day, be sure to let your photographer know and plan ahead in your timeline.
